Course Overview

Back-End Developer is responsible for building and maintaining the server-side components of a website or web application. Unlike front-end developers, who focus on the visual and interactive elements of a site, back-end developers work behind the scenes to ensure the smooth operation of the application by managing databases, server logic, and user authentication. They play a critical role in ensuring that the web application functions properly and securely.

The core technologies of back-end development include programming languages like Python, Java, Ruby, PHP, and Node.js. These languages are used to write the logic and algorithms that control how the server processes and responds to user requests. Back-end developers also work with APIs (Application Programming Interfaces), which allow the front-end and back-end components to communicate effectively, enabling data exchange between the client and server.

One of the primary tasks of a back-end developer is to design and manage the database that stores all the data for a web application. This includes designing the structure, writing queries, and ensuring that the database can efficiently store and retrieve data. Back-end developers typically work with Relational Databases (SQL) such as MySQL or PostgreSQL, as well as NoSQL databases like MongoDB or Cassandra depending on the application’s needs.
